Hello darlings, I must once again ask your forgiveness for
being a terrible blogger. However, I
have been hard at work on all sorts of exciting things for my blog. Starting Wednesday, Indigo Impression will be
consistently updated with my regular fashion posts, but I will be incorporating
recipes, decorating, and gift-guides for the upcoming holiday season! (right after my Halloween recap, of
course) Now doesn’t that sound
enticing? I know you’re probably
crawling out of your seat with anticipation, so to soften the wait, here’s a picture of Muffin knocking on the window to come in. (if you’re
unfamiliar, he’s my tyrannical cat). See
you Wednesday!

oh i am clever
I just want you all to know that I do not believe this to be the greatest outfit I have ever come up with, or will ever wear. Though at the time I did think it was quite clever of me to pair a red belt with that blue sweater.
Anyway, it is utterly dreary this morning, rain rain rain. But I've been keeping warm with lots of sweaters and tea. I just tried Honey Chamomile from Celestial Seasonings - delish! Hopefully you're all having a good week so far, now it's off to work!

Target Beauty Box
About a month ago, Target had a promotion where they were sending out beauty samples. I quickly filled out my info and forgot about it. To my delight, yesterday I received a Target Beauty Box in the mail! Inside was a pretty pink makeup bag filled with samples, and a book of Target Beauty coupons. I've already used the Tresemme Naturals shampoo and am so in love with the clean, fresh feeling it leaves my hair. I can't wait to try the rest of the products! I hope everyone had a great weekend, and is ready to go back to work on this lovely Monday. Woop.

cold and casual
It's been getting chilly outside and I love it! I wore this super-casual outfit the other day while running errands around town. I paired an oversized chunky sweater with rolled-up skinny jeans and threw on a big scarf. Nothing fancy here. But... notice the haircut? Yep, I got bangs! Ahh. Definitely one of the most difficult and frightening decisions of my life, no joke. However, I am quite pleased with them - it was a much-needed change!
I would also like to throw out a big thank-you to all my new followers, I literally jump out of my chair with excitement when the list goes up even by one! I am thrilled you guys like my blog enough to continue reading. Hope everyone is having a great week and enjoying the cooler weather!

DIY Halloween
Dressing up on a daily basis is fun, but you know what's even better? Dressing up for Halloween! Seriously, it's pretty much my favorite night of the year. I get SO into it. I don't buy those over-priced cheap-looking Halloween costumes in the stores though, it's DIY all the way! I like making the costumes myself because 1) They are completely unique - no one will have the same costume as you! 2) If you're going for a specific look, you can make it more authentic, and 3) it's usually a lot cheaper! Here are my costumes from the past two years:
Last year's costume was masquerade inspired. I made centered the entire costume around the mask I found at Pier 1. I wore an old ballet costume, layered another tutu on the back for extra poof, and threw on some red and black accessories. You can't see from these pictures, but I was also wearing fake glitter eyelashes.
So what do you think I should be? Any of these or some other suggestions would be great, leave me a comment telling me what you think! I'm also going to put a poll on my Facebook page if you want to vote there. What are your Halloween plans?

The year before we were pirates! This costume was one of the easiest I've done. I just went to Goodwill, bought cheap oversized clothes and ripped/chopped them up. I bought the pirate hats and a set of fake gold hoops at Kmart, then accessorized with scarves, belts, and ripped fabric.
This year, I want to do a costume with full-out makeup. I've watching lots of Youtube tutorials, and am getting so many great ideas! The only problem is, now I don't know what to be. I'm leaning towards either a mermaid, Poison Ivy (or another supervillain), Medusa (super-cool snake hair, yes!). Here are some of my inspirations:

outfit post: sweater dress
It is finally starting to feel like fall! I was so excited the other day when it was cool enough to wear my sweater dress that I bought back in July (hey, sweaters are on sale in the summer!). It is pretty shapeless on it's own, so I cinched my waist with a wide caramel-brown belt. I also wore my new favorite shoes - brown oxford flats from H&M. I love love LOVE these shoes. They are so completely comfortable, and go with almost my entire fall wardrobe.
I mixed gray into the look with leggings and and a chunky infinity scarf. I actually made the scarf myself after I saw an almost-identical one in Urban Outfitters for a ridiculous price. There is another one in my Etsy shop if you're interested! I kept jewelry simple - cheap pearl earrings from Forever21 and three bracelets which I layered to look like one.
I'm working on college applications this morning then heading off to work, hope everyone's having a good week!

my first-ever video tutorial
Every week, Independent Fashion Bloggers makes a project for bloggers to do, write a post about, and then submit their links. I've done a few of them, they are always fun to do and great when I can't think of a post to write!
For a few weeks now, I have been thinking about starting a Youtube channel for this blog. I thought it would be a great way to expand by doing tutorials, vlogs, etc. The only thing stopping me was the thought of me actually being in the videos! (you would think being an actor/dancer I wouldn't have stage fright...is camera fright different?) Anyway, this week's IFB Project # 15 was.....Make a Video Tutorial! Gah. I took it as a sign - my destiny is to make a Youtube channel. (well maybe not my destiny...but it forced me to make one!). So here you have it. My first-ever video. Feel free to laugh and make fun, hopefully I will improve!

Blugirl Fall 2011
I was flipping through the fall issue of Runway Magazine, when the Blugirl Fall 2011 Collection caught my eye, and I fell instantly in love. Every look felt in season, (like apples and pumpkins) with the forest greens, browns, camels, and corals. Cinched-waist designs, fur capelets, and long suede gloves gave the entire collection a 40's vibe.
I think the details are what make this line so lust-worthy. Every look was accessorized with skinny belts, strappy pumps with socks, or a chic fedora. It kind of gives me a "let's go horseback riding in the English countryside, then we'll have tea" vibe. Maybe that's just me. Either way, it is everything I will be wearing this fall and can't get enough!
